Holding the Light: A Christmas Eve Reflection

It’s Christmas Eve, and we’re standing in that beautiful, strange space between what was and what’s coming.

This year has been a lot. For all of us, in different ways. And I think a lot of us are feeling ready to turn the page, to step into something new, even while we’re still processing everything that’s happened.

Here’s what I want to remind you as we close out 2025:

You made it through. Whatever this year threw at you – the challenges, the changes, the unexpected turns – you navigated it. You’re still here. That matters.

Your resilience, that’s not something that just happened to you. That’s something you cultivated. Every time you chose to get up when you wanted to stay down. Every time you found a new way forward when the old path closed. Every time you held onto faith when doubt was louder, you were building your spiritual and emotional strength like a muscle.

Resilience isn’t about never feeling angry , sad, tired or overwhelmed. It’s about knowing you can rest and still rise again. It’s about trusting yourself to handle whatever comes because you’ve proven to yourself, over and over and over again, that you can.

I know some days it feels like you’re just surviving, but surviving is the foundation of thriving. You’re not weak for struggling. You’re powerful for persisting. And now we get to do something powerful: we get to choose what we carry forward and what we leave behind.

In my spiritual practice, I love this time of year because it’s all about transition. The longest night has passed. The light is already returning, even if we can’t see it yet. We’re in the portal between who we were and who we’re becoming.

This is also the time to replenish yourself. You’ve been pouring out all year, energy, love, care, work, worry. Before you step into the new year with all its possibilities and demands, take a moment to fill your own cup back up.

Light a candle and just breathe. Take a long bath with oils or salts that make you feel sacred. Spend time with your altar if you have one. Sleep in. Say no to things that drain you. Let yourself receive, whether that’s rest, pleasure, support from loved ones, or simply quiet moments of peace.

Self-care isn’t selfish. It’s how you keep your light burning bright enough to navigate the path ahead. You can’t pour from an empty vessel, and you deserve to feel full, nourished, and whole as you move forward.

This is your invitation to dream again. To believe in possibilities. To set intentions for the version of yourself you want to step into in 2026.

Keep the faith, not blind faith, but the kind of faith that’s been earned through experience. The kind that says: I’ve been tested before and I’ve made it through. The kind that whispers: I don’t know exactly how it’s going to work out, but I trust myself to figure it out. The kind that knows your magic is real because you’ve seen it work in your life, even in small ways.

Faith is what bridges the gap between where you are and where you’re going. It’s the invisible hand that guides you when you can’t see the full picture. And you’ve already proven you know how to walk by faith, you’ve been doing it all year.

Yes, the world is complicated. Yes, there’s uncertainty. But you’ve always had the power to create your own reality within that – to tend your own garden, light your own candles, build your own magic.

So as you move through these next few days, be gentle with yourself. Celebrate what deserves celebrating. Rest where you need to rest. And start envisioning what you want to call in when that new year energy hits.

We’re all in this together, figuring it out as we go. And I truly believe our best days are still ahead of us. I know, I say that alot BUT I really believe it.

Here’s to closing one chapter to write the next one. Let’s walk the path together and make it extraordinary. I’ll hold the light.

With faith, hope and love, Donna
